International FAQs
1.
Can I use ExSept Plus on connections, caps or for transfer set
changes?
No. The product of choice is Alcavis 50. Alcavis 50 provides
a higher concentration of active ingredient (NaOCl) than ExSept Plus.
The presence of organic load in the catheter or in the connection
may require a higher concentration.
ExSept Plus has been designed to be used exclusively on patients'
skin.
2.
Can ExSept Plus be contaminated?
No. The ExSept Plus liquid and bottle cannot become contaminated
easily in use or during its manufacture. The nature and potency
of the antimicrobial ingredient in the product protects the
product from contamination. The full potency of the active
hypochlorite is available when bacteria, viruses or fungi
are exposed to it.
3. Can
I sterilize the skin with ExSept Plus?
No. You may achieve a significant (as high as 99.9%) reduction
of the bacteria on the skin. Sterilization of the skin cannot
be achieved with ExSept Plus or any other antiseptic because many
skin bacteria are deep and inaccessible.
You can achieve sterilization of inanimate objects. You cannot
achieve sterilization of the skin and in fact, it is not desirable
to do so.
4. Do
I need to wait after applying ExSept Plus to the site?
Yes. There is a required 2-minute exposure period after application
in order to achieve antimicrobial action. However, you do
not need to reapply ExSept Plus.
5. Do
I dilute ExSept Plus?
No. ExSept Plus is ready to use.
